motivation

It's january, I read a bad review of my CD from some butt-pirate in Toronto, and even though I know he's half way up Frosty's ass, can't help but hear all the negativity again. He's also a Mike Wilmot lover, and seemed pretty defensive that I have a similar style and voice, but he admits, comparisons are obvious. He (Glen Sumni of Toronto Now Magazine)comments that I have voice that no doubt gets me voice work(I think - a compliment) then later says I haven't found my voice. (So cliche and lazy). The he says my photo on the disk is unflattering and makes me look like I've drank alot in my life. Are comedians supposed to be pretty. Anyway, it's obvious that the guy took six months to review the disk, and had plenty of time to chat up the local TO scene and gasp in horror at what an scurilous individual I am, and how he would do his best to crush any progress as a comic. That way, all the improv twits, and cbc tv extras (sad to see al park do a turn on the Royal Canadian Old Farts)can keep their jobs and some sense of validity. But you know what they say. The only thing worse than being TALKED ABOUT - IS NOT...

So I will use this pissy review as motivation. Now I can show Mike Wilmot, Lewis Black and George Carlin as people I've been compared to. Ah the age of Information.

beginnings are endings too

Its january 4th, and the new year is getting old. I have a couple of weeks off before work starts again, so I'm going out to maple Ridge to go swimming with my daughter. (A Day Visit) I have a bunch of photos from the holidays that I'll put on. We are getting the internet at home finally, so this blog will have more bells and whistles to it. My resoltution is to ignore the nay-sayers in my world and plunge forward. I booked a voice job last week and my comedy is now broadcast on XM radios Satillite radio. A buddy of mine is going through some tough changes, and him being a regular reader, I can wish him well, and being that he's saved my ass a few times, I will be ready to do the same. Things can get treacherous in the pursuit of happiness. Hold on...
