26th day with rain, and Dave Chappelle

The eternal rain... vancouver, even at it's worst, it's still pretty good, but people get depressed. I've been reading a book that discusses levels of consciousness, and how it really is about attitude. At this point in my life, the best level of consciousness is neutrality, the point of view, that the outcome of things is not the deal. Simply not worrying about shit.

meanwhile I watched some great comedy TV - with the Curb Your Enthusiam season out on DVD. I also watched Dave Chappelles Show, 2nd and third season.

Watching Dave's show reminded me of when I worked with Chappelle in 1997 in Vancouver. I was running a room downtown called Legends, and Dave was in town doing a movie. I was living with Dave Copeman and his wife and son for a few months, and he was Booking Yuks, and so he had Dave's number, and called him up. I had at least a dozen people on the show, but Chapeele showed up right away so I put him up, sent a drink on stage, (which was still customery in comedy)and proceeded to do over two hours. All night all I did was go around the room bumping people. He was brilliant, riffing on everything, and he had a lot of fun(and a lot of herb and sambuca). He left with a cute blond (don't know where she came from, never saw her again. This was the days before Cosby and Oprah were on Dave's tail.
