The passing of my father

It is with a heavy heart that I am writing today. My father died last night at the age of 77. I am at a loss this morning at what to do. I will be returning to Camrose ASAP, to begin the beginning of a very difficult week, and a life without my dad. I am most concerned for my mother, and my family, and so I will have to organize myself to take my responsibility to ensure this time is as kind as possible to all my family and friends. I very much appreciate the support and love of all my friends at this time.

After party for Joseph

And after the show, we went for ice cream!!

Joseph and his Technicolor Dreamcoat

Harry Hooge Elementary in Maple Ridge presented songs from the Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical. Bree, in Grade Five, was in the choir. Grade 7's get the parts. The two leads were good, considering their youth, and I was of course very proud of my little girl.

The C.R. Avery Band

Me and the poetess went out to see one of her favourite bands - CR Avery. This was the third time I saw CR. First time was at Rime with a group of singer poets aclled the "fugitives". He was great. Then I saw him at the Spoken Word festival as part of a trio called "Tofu (Ton of Fun University)" Mostly spoken word, and again he was great. But, the poet tells me, you have to see him with his band, he totally rocks. Well she was right!! I'm listening to their new CD right now. It's called "chainsmoking blues". Highly reccomend getting it, or getting out to one of his shows. The passion and talent this guy brings is not to be missed. He had the audience doing back up vocals, and encored the show with the whole band on the top of the bar at Cafe DuSoliel.

Turns out my old friend Noah is CR's guitar player, and brilliant. It's cool when someone you know and like, just cause, turns out to be super talented. I love that when it happens.
