Dane Cook Gets Fried

As Jennifer and I jumped into my car to drive back to Vancouver on Sunday, she got a call from Jy Harris, letting us know what happened at the club on Saturday. Apparantly Dane Cook had arranged to do a set on the late show. Pete Kelamis was headlining, and Dane was supposed to go on after him, but when Dane got there, he insisted on going up first, so the management asked him to do a shorter set. (You know where this is going!) He did about forty before they yanked him. Cut off his mic and played the house music. He was Pissed!! He threw down the mic and stormed out. Now, most people in Canada don't know who Dane Cook is, but he is THE biggest thing in stand up right now in the States. So the waves from pulling him are all over the town. I'm just glad I was out of town, and there's no way for them to blame me.

Gotcha and Okanagan Night Life

The Sky Lounge

My friend Jeff Leyland and some of his friends from Vancouver happened to be staying in Kelowna at the same hotel. They were on vacation, having a golf tournament. They had a couple of adjoining rooms, and set up a full bar in the room (including Josh, the head bartender form the Urban Well), soooo I ended up partying with them everynight till the wee hours. By the second night a gaggle of girls showed up, so we had lots of distractions.

Jennifer Grant

Touring with Jennifer is always good. She is a solid act and always good for a conversation on the road. Why? Because she is inteligent and opinionated. That makes for some good chats. We also got out of the hotel to get to downtown where we saw a car show, which neither of us could care less about. Then we ate at an Irish Pub before the show. The shows were consistently good, and although the numbers we light, the crowds built over the weekend, and I was able to sell some CD's.

Cory Deustch

Cory is a new comedian, and a pschology student. He works in Kelowna during the summer, so he comes down to the show and emcees for the experience. This has allowed him to improve a lot (although I still tease him about his loooong set-ups) and it also makes for a better show because everyone gets a proper intro, and it makes it feel like a totally pro show. Good job Cory!! Thanks for the help.

Mister Anonymous

I was chatting with Mister online, and it turned out he was visiting his family in Kelowna the same day I was working there, so he came down and I got him on the show. It was great to see one of my pals from Toronto. It was very hot that weekend, so we began our visit with a cold one in my room. Mister Anonymous is his legal name, which he changed it to a few years ago. It's a pretty cool idea, but he hasn't been allowed over the border, or order a pizza over the phone ever since!

Back on the Blog

One of the my regular readers complained that I hadn't posted in a week or so, so I'm back to it. I was out of town - in Kelowna, and so I didn't get a chance to work on it. I am also working on a new site, and so I have neglected my readers. I apologize, and I will crank out some stuff. I also have a bunch of pictures, so here we go - in chronological order. (Ironically, because of the way this blog posts, bottom to top, it will appear backwards.)
