funny and honey

"Honey" and I have been a real team lately, enjoying each others company and getting a lot of work...

Sometimes in the morning, we're still workin'

Driving into the night

These are images of where I spend my nights, in hotel parking lots and suburbs. It is inevitable that I will write of this new job, and all that it implies. For now I will give your my photographic POV of working for and escort agency.

Finally going to be published!

Well sweet friend from church (aka K) pitched my story from her newsletter to the Presbyterian Record (a national magazine), and they like it. Gonna give me 280 bucks to publish it. This is the first time I have been professionally published. I have had many plays produced, and Cd's recorded, and screenplays. But I have never had a story published. I am very happy about this, a little dream of mine coming true. Thanks K!!!

I miss Marla

My friend Marla has kinda dropped out on me. We had a cool thing going where I would call her at 8:20 am, and she'd join me for coffee. Then one time she snapped at me for calling too early (the same time I always called) and sent me an email to not phone her before 9 am or after 9 pm. When I have called after 9 am, she is either already gone, or it's too late for her to have coffee with me. So this curfew has pretty much ended it. Very Zen.

It's okay I guess. I am writing a song which Janet says is beautiful, and allows me to put my feelings for Marla in some usefeul place, besides making myself vulnerable to her. Nowadays its a risk to like someone, or be nice to them. It can be used against you very easily.

More Gemini problems

Gemini women...
It seems I am surrounded by them. My new neighbour, showed up drunk at my backyard one night, and we have chatted a few times. She seemed very nice, but she's a Gemini, so it was only a matter of time. Sure enough, she decided that she wanted to work on "her back yard". She had done nothing down there for the two months she's been here, so I cleaned the place up, put some furniture around. Thought she'd appreciate it. Nope, instead she phones the building manager and complains. Tried to do her a favour, and thought if there was a problem, she could talk to me, but noooooooooooooooo, she has to rat me out. So today I took my hockey sticks and baketball hoop up to my yard. Plus I grabbed my trees, and the patio furniture I had out for her and now she can do want she wants. Of course she won't do anything, and the place will fall into neglect. This is typical of these types. They need to control things, but there too lazy and self-involved to actually DO anything. They just want to stop other people from doing things. So lame. Meanwhile, she can't be trusted. She's the type that would take a kind gesture and use it to suggest something inappropriate about it. She could say she felt threatened and everyone would jump to her defense. Just like Leanne trying to claim I was abusive. It's something they can say and have nothing but their"feelings" to back it up, and be believed. This neighbour came to me to say that someone had been trying to look in her mail slot, after putting a piece of tape over her door's peephole. I was concerned when she told me, but now I highly doubt it ever happened. She's just trying to get attention. Why don't these women try getting attention by, I don't know, maybe doing something, reading a book, maybe even doing something kind in return.

It's funny, but I give bread to maybe ten people in the building, and only the building manager, does anything in return. He knows I like vegetables, so he buys some and gives them to me to show his gratitude for the bread I give him. It's not that I expect anything in return, besides maybe not emabrassing me, and ratting me out to the building owners.

Oh well. There are so many women in my life and they are all so high maintenance. I hope to teach my daughter to no be like that.

Women in my life...

Peppersprey first show!

Keeping the wolves away.

In April I discovered that I had been given the wrong dates for my week at the club, so I looked around for some way to make money, and came upon a job that I kinda dig. For the last month I have been working for an escort agency, driving escorts to their appointments. Yep thats right. Just last night I drove a lovely lady to a hotel across town - in the middle of the night. Over the last week - I made enough, with that, and some painting work I did for my friend Paul, to pay June's rent. This is a break through, finding ways to pay for things without comedy. It is very freeing to not have to do stand-up for money. Means I don't have to go on some starvation tour, or pressure anyone for work. Had an audition today for a movie, and didn't have to worry. It wouldn't be the end of the world. So I gave a good audition. And not having to hang around comedians, or even think about comedy, has been great.

Meanwhile, I am finding fun and success in other mediums. My band Peppersprey played at Cafe Du Soliel the other night, and everybody loved it. I have been asked to go on the road with some poets. It's so refreshing to work with people that have depth. Stand-ups are about as deep as a puddle - turning everything into a bumper sticker. I would love it if this develops into a career and I can leave stand-up behind (at least for a while).

sometimes life is so full of itself, you can't be in it.

Okay, I realise its been quite awhile since i wrote. had some amazing experiances in the last while and so, i will attempt to account them to you, with as much detail as required. Photo's should help.

I did a show at lafflines and sitting in the audience were Kirk McLean, and Bill Ranford, to of the best goaltenders ever. I was pretty cool. I gave Kirk my CD. Bill, whose wife was having the birthday, commented that I abused his wife, made fun of his team, (Oilers had practice today) the lost 4-1) and to rub it in, he didn't get a free CD. They had a great time.
