Dr. Chi

Dr. Kim Chi,Commander of the Ship SS KillRichardsCancer. This guy leads the world in Testicular Cancer. the best - simply put.

When I told him I did five shows last round and ended up in hospital he said, "How the shows go?" "I said, 'I killed them and almost me'" He was glad I wasn't doing the shows this week...

Dr. Baird and Team Richard

Chemo face

taken about 7 am on Kits beach. when it hits you, it's like a fog. look how far awy my eyes are, and how puffed up my face is from the steroids. That day my blood pressure was 155 over 95, with a heart rate of 110, almost double what a body not being attacked would be at.

Uncle Dave says "You gotta Eat!"

After moaning on my blog about home lame my family is, my real one showed up.
Dave Copeman, who is sorta a silent partner in this Rick kicks Cancer Project.
LOVEYA MAN!!

How bad did this suck.

All last week Nurse Ratched came over everyday to change my wound dressing and give the big expensive needle. I can barely remember that time period thank God and atavin.

laff-raiser for richard

okay, i know i left you hanging. i was a having a rough time and wasn't up to writing. I have a few days of relative comfort, so i'll bring you up to speed about the events last week.

1. Barn Raiser. After getting out of the hospital on the friday, and doing a show so secure the room at Rossini's, it was obvious - at least to Brett Martin, that I could, should not and will not be doing my headline week at yukyuks this week. I obviously could use the money, but this scrap I've got going with Cancer is more important. It's not often that a young whippersnapper sits a wily vet like me down and tells me whats what. All I could do is listen. He was right. So know shows. I had to pull the trigger.
Later that day I went to see my shrink, Dr.A and he was concerned that I was still doing shows onstage and off, keeping people thinking I was doing great. The reality is that these rounds ARE getting tougher, leaving me too weak to do ANYTHING without landing me back in hospital. Dr. A asked me if he could talk to Brett. and I said sure. I believe Dr. A told Brett that HE needed to tell people how sick I am, because I won't.

He did, and managed to keep my headline week intact be getting five of my friends, to cover the shows for me and donate the pay to me. Sorta go in and punch the card for me. They are Danny (pla)Quinn, Toby "Lisping badly to the Port" Hargreaves, Paul "I'm from Camrose TOO" Myerhaug, JP Mass, and Erica Sigurdson. Fortunately my friends are also great comedians. You don't need a lot of friends, just funny ones.

It's not a blatant save the guys dying ass fund-rasier - more like a community chipping in on short notice to help out one of their's. Anyway, I'm sure they'll do a great job and I appreciate the gesture. In other words, thanks.
